Getting your home based business organized
Getting organized in your home based business.
Getting organized will help you spend more time on what's important…marketing and making sales.
Often people ask me to counsel them on how to get their business back on track.  They are exhausted,
overwhelmed and discouraged beyond belief.  In over 90 percent of those cases, the business man or woman
never really took the time to get organized, so little tasks that should take five to six minutes, end up taking fifty
to sixty to complete.  Hours and hours of precious time is lost daily to simple little mysteries, such as:

Where is my password for my merchant account?
Where is my login link for the company's back office?
Where did I file that email that great prospect sent me?
Where are the latest marketing materials from corporate?
What did I do with that Excel file I got from the leads company?

I know you're either excited about getting started on your business and making your first commission, or you're
finally mad enough to give your business the intensity it deserves.  Great!  But I promise you, taking an hour or
two to prepare the soil for your new growth will pay you huge dividends.

Establishing your work space:
Some of this sounds obvious, but indulge me – as often it is not.  You need a work space that will not be defiled
by anyone else's meddling, logic or even good intentions.  If at home, it is best if this work space is not in the
middle of your living space.  Perhaps you have an unused guest bedroom or dining room with doors that
close…set up shop there.  This will help with concentration for you – and peace for the rest of your family (or
roommates).

Organizing Your Computer
This video will teach you how to get organized on your computer.
  • How to create folders on your Windows Explorer
(that's where all your documents are located "My Documents").
  • How to create Bookmarks in your Internet Explorer or Firefox
(those are the programs most people use to surf the internet.
  • How to organize your e-mail accounts and how to create
folders to keep everything readily available for retrieval.

Setting Up Outlook and Outlook Express
I would recommend anyone to get one or more gmail accounts
(e-mail by Google) for many reasons.  One reason is that it is by
far the best FREE e-mail account available and it is POP3 enabled...
meaning you can get your e-mails come into your Outlook or
Outlook Express.  Setting Up Outlook and Outlook Express to
receive g-mail and other pop 3 Accounts Google.

Setting up separate file folders for your business
It is also a good idea to have a folder (possibly
in a file folder) with several sub-folders to keep
receipts, bank and other important info
concerning your business.

Organizing Your Time
Scheduling/Planning your days, weeks, months,
quarters, years…
If you don't have a plan each day – I guarantee
you will be less effective (and get less done).

Overall, you should have a schedule that
encompasses your personal and business
life.  For this exercise, let's focus on how to
schedule your business.

Scheduling your time is even more important
when operating a part time business.  Let's just
say that you're working your business 3 hours per day.

  • Use the best time to return and make calls
  • Use non prime time on studying and marketing (posting ads)
  • It is safe to say that if you're not spending time studying marketing and personal development, you
will not make it in your home business.
  • Secondly, you need to consistently post ads every day...consistancy is the key.
